Every true prophet has met with opposition when he introduced truth to the world. Mankind have always rejected true prophets and exalted the false ones. The Prophet Joseph Smith had difficulty proclaiming nearly every doctrine which was not commonly believed in; and because of this, many principles were restrained from the public eye. Joseph knew more than he could reveal–even to the Saints, for he said:   I have tried for a number of years to get the minds of the Saints prepared to receive the things of God; but we frequently see some of them, after suffering all they have for the work of God, will fly to pieces like glass as soon as anything comes that is contrary to their tradition; they cannot stand the fire at all.
