Uprisings for Black Lives Matter continue across the country and around the world, after beginning last week in Minneapolis, where Fr. Shay lives, in response to the murder of George Floyd by the police. The movement continues to swell as we recognize Breonna Taylor, Tony McDade, and countless others. As we head into LGBTQ Pride month, we recognize the interconnectedness of all our community’s struggles. In this episode, we answer a listener question and talk about the concept of the original sin. “From what I’ve seen, at best, it casts all humans as inherently sinful or lesser (which I don’t believe) and at worst, it’s used as a reason to insult/degrade women.” We also queer this week’s text from 2 Corinthians 13:11-13 & Matthew 28:16-20 which is very timely with what’s going on in the US right now.
