ORIOLES POSTCAST: Baltimore Orioles Crushed Early as Kyle Bradish’s Birthday Start Goes Sideways vs. Toronto Blue Jays

The Orioles needed a statement win in Toronto. Instead, they got buried early. Kyle Bradish’s birthday start unraveled fast as the Blue Jays tagged him for five earned runs in a deflating 7–3 Orioles loss on Saturday. Toronto refused to chase Bradish’s offspeed pitches, and with his slider and curve difficult to land consistently, the Blue Jays sat on the fastball and did damage. There were opportunities—and flashes—but Baltimore could not turn them into enough runs. The Orioles worked a 31-pitch first inning against opener Spencer Miles, while Pete Alonso launched his 299th career home run, a two-run shot off Paul Sewald in the seventh. But questionable baserunning decisions loomed large: Christian Encarnacion-Strand was thrown out at the plate to end the fourth after being sent from second on Colton Cowser’s single, then was held at third two innings later despite Jeremiah Jackson’s deeper double into right-center. The Orioles are now 3–8 in September, with just 13 games left to climb a more-than-three-game Wild Card gap on Cleveland while also passing Toronto and Texas. Baltimore’s elimination number is down to 11.
