ORIOLES POSTCAST: Baltimore Orioles Sweep is DENIED as Bats Go Silent in 3-1 Loss to Tampa Bay Rays

The Orioles had a chance to sweep the Rays, and instead delivered one of their most infuriating offensive performances of the season. Luke Slabaugh reacts to Baltimore’s 3-1 loss to Tampa Bay in Sunday’s series finale. Nick Martinez absolutely carved up the O’s lineup, retiring 17 straight Orioles after Colton Cowser’s third-inning double. Cowser’s ninth-inning homer prevented a shutout, but Baltimore still narrowly avoided its fifth shutout loss of the year—and saw its franchise-record single-season 121-game walk streak come to an end. Meanwhile, Shane Baz once again received virtually no help. Baz battled through command issues, worked around traffic, induced double plays, and held Tampa Bay to one run through five innings. But a two-out sixth-inning snowball—featuring a Yandy Díaz single, Jonathan Aranda RBI knock, a wild pitch, and a Junior Caminero single—turned another winnable start into a frustrating loss. Baz has now received only 15 runs of support across his last 12 starts since June 18. The Orioles’ offense has to be better. Period.
