Orioles Smash Cardinals 13-1 | St. Louis News

The Orioles obliterated the Cardinals 13-1 in a dominant performance, with Pete Alonso lighting up the scoreboard with four hits, including a three-run homer, and driving in four runs before exiting in the fifth. Chris Bassitt anchored the pitching staff with six strong innings, striking out five without issuing a walk. The win pushes Baltimore closer to an AL wild-card spot, while St. Louis sinks deeper into a losing streak—four games in a row—with Matthew Liberatore surrendering a season-high eight runs. Jackson Holliday and Christian Encarnacion-Strand added firepower for the O’s, and even though Nathan Church hit a solo homer for the Cardinals, it wasn’t enough. Adding intrigue: Cardinals catcher Pedro Pagés pitched the ninth—his second save appearance in three games—as St. Louis scrambles to find answers on the mound.
