Donor funding can perpetuate human trafficking especially in orphanages. This is according to Sophie Otiende, a survivor of trafficking and Programme Consultant at Awareness Against Human Trafficking- HAART - in Kenya. According to the 2018 Trafficking in Persons Report, orphanages are increasingly becoming hubs for human trafficking around the world. Research also shows that the vast majority of children in orphanages have living parents. Otiende has been speaking to Channel Africa's Reporter Kgomotso Mophulane, on the sidelines of the Trust conference, which took place in London last week.
