Die Kanzlerpartei ÖVP wirbt im EU-Wahlkampf mit Abschiebungen und schärferen Grenzkontrollen, die rechtspopulistische FPÖ fordert sogar einen »Asylstopp«. Doch lassen sich diese Forderungen tatsächlich umsetzen? Schließlich ist das Land an Vorgaben auf EU-Ebene gebunden und dort wurde gerade, pünktlich zur EU-Wahl, eine Asylreform verabschiedet. Die sieht künftig einen Solidaritätsmechanismus zur Verteilung von Asylsuchenden in Europa vor, außerdem mehr Abkommen mit Drittstaaten und Schnellverfahren für Schutzsuchende an den EU-Außengrenzen. Was genau heißt das für einzelne Länder wie Österreich? In dieser Folge von »Inside Austria« beschäftigen wir uns mit Österreichs Asylpolitik. Wir wollen wissen, was das Land tut, um die urreguläre Migration einzudämmen und welche Forderungen nach Verschärfungen überhaupt umsetzbar sind.
