Otis's Story

from Blocked Britain · host Blocked Britain

Meet Otis, 24, from Bermondsey and Old Southwark in London. He dreamed of becoming a nurse to serve his community, but found his path blocked by deliberate choices made in Westminster. Health Education England's training budgets were constrained by Treasury spending limits that treat public investment as a cost to be minimised rather than the means by which trained healthcare workers reach the wards that desperately need them. The training places existed. The people who wanted to fill them existed. What was missing was a government willing to fund them. Otis's story reveals how central government decisions create artificial scarcity in healthcare training, leaving both aspiring nurses and understaffed hospitals stranded. This episode contains strong language and references to financial stress. For mental health resources, visit blockedbritain.com/support.

Some are humorous in intent, some merely in retrospect, some are just here because Wavlake doesn't have a "Random influences" category for albums and everyone's humour is different anyway! The subheading "Novelty" is probably a better fit as most of these songs you will only want to hear once! ;) Oh, all songs in this album were made using Udio.
