Call 203.622.8737.Welcome to the 18th of June 2024 show.Cooling Centers Open in Greenwich Due to Heatwave. On Greenwich in the Gilded Age, we will journey back in time and visit Otter Cottage in Belle Haven, made possible by Victorian Summer: The Historic Houses of Belle Haven Park, Greenwich, Connecticut by Matt Bernard.  In April, 1924, Faircroft -one of the 'Great Estates' in Northern Greenwich was destroyed by fire. It was reconstructed in 1925. It went on to be the home of Claire Booth Luce, Tudor Investment Corporation, and now serves as Brunswick School's middle school campus. A pianist in Larry Siry's Orchestra at the Pickwick Arms Hotel found "a small flask of whiskey wrapped in a copy of the New York Evening Post, bearing date of Aril 20, 1898" in a carefully stowed piano in the hotel -making front-page news in 1925. What happened in Greenwich in Year 1958?
