欧豪年1935年生于广东茂名（今改隶吴川），出身名门世家，自幼对文学艺术兴趣甚浓，1950年随父母移居香港，17岁拜入岭南派巨擘赵少昂门下。后受赵少昂师嘱托，单枪匹马闯荡台湾，那时渡海画家张大千、黄君璧年事已高，30多岁青春勃发的欧豪年得到他们的器重，并继承了他们以发展中华文化为己任的艺术家传统，不断开拓，终成大器。
