Our Duty To Dignity- Fr. Tom Hurley 1.26.25

from Old St. Pat's Podcast · host Father Tom Hurley, Fr. Tom Hurley

What does it truly mean to honor the dignity of every person in our world today? How do we live out the Gospel in a way that embraces all life, especially amid fear, uncertainty, and division?Last week, the Archbishop of Chicago reminded us that as the Body of Christ, we serve those in need, respecting and promoting the inherent dignity of every person who arrives on our doorstep no matter citizenship status, race, color or creed. His words challenge us to embody this mission in our daily lives—to prioritize love, solidarity, and tangible action that reflect Christ’s presence in the world.Today, we’ll reflect on Pope Francis’ profound reminder that “we are dealing with people with faces and names” and that migration governance must balance regulation with human rights and dignity. In today’s episode, Father Tom Hurley urges us to embrace the sacred responsibility of seeing and treating every individual as a beloved child of God, honoring their inherent dignity, and living out the Gospel message through words and actions.  The Archdiocese of Chicago is working with the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, Catholic Charities, state and local governments and other groups to coordinate our activities of support in Cook and Lake Counties.
