Our North, Strong and Free: A Renewed Vision for Canada’s Defence

from Economic Club of Canada | Where the Economy Comes Together · host Economic Club of Canada

Canadians are facing a rapidly evolving security environment driven by a more open and accessible Arctic and northern region, increasing global instability, and rapid advances in technology. In the face of these new challenges, Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and National Defence Minister Bill Blair launched Our North, Strong and Free: A Renewed Vision for Canada’s Defence on April 8, 2024. This defence policy update outlines Canada’s plan to do more to meet these challenges by investing $73 billion over twenty years to provide Canadian Armed Forces members with the tools that they need to ensure the security and prosperity of Canadians. As the Government of Canada begins to implement this defence policy update, the Honourable Bill Blair, Minister of National Defence, will deliver keynote remarks in Toronto to discuss how Our North, Strong and Free will support CAF members, bolster Canada’s defence industrial base and create skilled, well-paying jobs, and protect Canada’s sovereignty.
