Our Savior Jesus Christ: 8. Repent & be Converted

from The Gospel Teachings of Richard Arlen Kern · host Jacob

1. It repented  2. Repentance is returning to God and obeying his commandments  3. Affliction causes people to be converted from their sins  4. If God's people pray, be converted from their sins and wicked ways, and do penance, then God will forgive their sins, show them the way in which they should walk, and heal their land.  5. A sacrifice to God is an afflicted spirit: a contrite [feeling sorry for sins or offences; repentant] and humbled [not proud or haughty, insignificant] heart, O God, you will not despise (detest; look down on with contempt; regard as worthless). (Psalm 50:19)  6. For the sake of repentance God overlooks sin  7. God judges by degrees [little by little] to give sinners a chance to repent  8. If we show repentance when God reprimands us, we will escape willful sin  9. The people repented not, neither did they depart from their sins.  10. King Josias directed his heart toward the Lord and in leading his nation of Juda to repentance he took away the abominations of wickedness  11. Sin is forsaking God's Law  12. Vexation alone shall make you understand what you hear.  13. But to whom shall I have respect, but to him who is poor and little, and of a contrite spirit, and that trembles at my words?  14. Be converted and do penance for all your iniquities. Sin is iniquity.  15. Make to yourself a new heart, and a new spirit  16. I will pour clean water upon you and put my Spirit in the midst of you and give you a new heart and a new spirit, and cause you to walk in my laws.  17. Forgive others or God will not forgive you  18. The son who regretted not doing his father's will when first asked, but later did it, was the son who actually did the father's will, not the one who said he was going to do it, but didn't.  19. Judas, repenting, went back to the chief priests and elders, declared that he had sinned in betraying innocent blood, flung the 30 pieces of silver into the temple and then went out and hanged himself.  20. Jesus spoke in parables so people who did not have a love of the truth would not understand and be converted and thus have their sins forgiven.  21. Sinners need to repent, not the just.  22. He who loves his life; he who hates his life in this world keeps it unto life everlasting  23. Repent and be baptized for forgiveness of your sins  24. Repenting and being converted is turning from wickedness so that one's sins are blotted out.  25. Jesus granted repentance and forgiveness of sins  26. Repent of this wickedness, iniquity.  27. If you believe in Jesus you are acquitted  28. Repent, and turn to God  29. For the gifts and call of God are without repentance [regret]  30. Deliver such a one over to Satan for the destruction of the flesh, that his spirit may be saved  31. Sorrow that is according to God produces repentance  32. Paul said, "lest ... I should mourn over many who sinned before and have not repented of the uncleanness and immorality and licentiousness that they practised."  33. We were once dead because we walked in sin according to the desires of our flesh and the fashion of this world, but God brought us to life by faith  34. We were enemies in mind through our evil works  35. God gives repentance to know the truth and unto life  36. Every son whom the Lord receives and loves he rebukes, scourges and chastises so they may share his holiness  37. You have fallen, repent and do the former works  38. Jezebel did not repent of her teaching God's servants to commit fornication and to eat of things sacrificed to idols. Unless his servants repent they will be punished with great tribulation.  39. Remember therefore what you have received and heard, and observe it and repent. Therefore, if you will not watch, I will come upon you as a thief, and you shall not know at what hour I shall come upon you.  40. As for me, those whom I love I rebuke and chastise. Be earnest therefore and repent.  41. Repenting includes quitting sinning:
