Out & Back Overcoming Calf Injuries: My Journey Back to Running

Hey there, it's Tony here from the Flying Runner, and welcome to Out and Back. Out and Back is your turnaround point for the weekly running journey. Since injuring my left calf at the Gold Coast Marathon, I've been very patient in trying to get back to running.  Yet, I've also felt incredibly frustrated because of the enforced rehab. Injuries are a part of our journey, and for some of us, calf injuries are a big part of our experience. I'm aiming for the New York Marathon this year, and it feels a bit like Groundhog Day because when I ran the New York Marathon in 2018, I had a torn calf.  These muscles can be loaded with up to seven times your body weight during running. Hence, they are incredibly tricky when we come back from injury.  Thanks for tuning in!
