Suzanne Somers (1946–2023) was an American actress, author, singer, businesswoman, and health spokesperson. She first rose to fame in the 1970s as the bubbly, ditzy character Chrissy Snow on the hit sitcom Three’s Company (1977–1981), which made her a household name. Later, she starred in the 1990s TV series Step by Step alongside Patrick Duffy, further cementing her status as a beloved television star. Beyond acting, Somers became widely recognized as a fitness and wellness entrepreneur, famously promoting the ThighMaster exercise device, which became a pop-culture phenomenon. She authored more than 25 books, many focused on health, wellness, aging, and alternative medicine; several became New York Times bestsellers. Her personal life was marked by resilience: she survived breast cancer and was an outspoken advocate of alternative health treatments, sparking both admiration and controversy in the medical community. Suzanne was also known for her long and loving marriage to entertainer Alan Hamel, whom she married in 1977.
