'Out of the Mist... A Dragon' Brings Rare, Ancient Japanese Puppetry Tradition to the Stissing Center Saturday

Lord Kumagai, no more than 4 feet tall, towers over his trembling daughter and the fisherman she hopes to marry. The white wooden mask of his face forms a permanent scowl, but his anger wavers at his daughter’s tears. Kumagai reveals his hesitation not through his immutable face, but with his body: the quivering of his sword hand, the bowing of his head.
