It is the executive apparatus, prosecutors, police, and state governments that can be pointed at opponents and made to look legal while doing political work. Aziz’s warning about the “weaponization” of government and the prosecution of political enemies is the core of the matter: once the state starts treating dissent as a target, the paper rules of democracy become camouflage.That is the actual danger. Not spectacle. Not shock rhetoric.
