Deborah served as a special education teacher and administrator, as well as a university professor, where she was awarded the Outstanding Teacher of the Year. A television documentary for the Nebraska State Department of Education also recognizes her notable work with learning-disabled students, and she has served on numerous committees at the district and state levels.
