Overcoming The Diet Mindset: 5 Great Conversations

from Make Peace With Food · host Sherry Shaban

It's estimated that around 80% of people who start a diet regain the weight they’ve lost and more. But why does this happen? In western society, we are on a constant quest to find the magic diet. The secret formula that will allow us to release weight fast and with little effort. The truth is, a diet is a restriction. We deny ourselves the things we want and when we do this,  we create a stronger reward system in our brain for it - we activate a more intense dopamine surge that ultimately creates an addiction. The longer the restriction, the more we want it, think about it and crave it. This is the diet mindset. But it doesn’t have to be like this. We have the ability to change the way we see food, change our habits around health and fitness and ultimately, drastically increase our quality of life forever. On this episode of the Fall In Love With Fitness Podcast, we revisit clips from five powerful interviews on the diet mindset.  As you listen in today I want you to ask yourself, athlete, at what point did I start to label my food as good or bad?  What habits got me to this point? And am I ready to start making a change?
