Overcoming the holiday blues’ - Dream Catchers with Les Paul - BIRN

from Z Z Archive 2014 · host Brain Injury Radio

This below is a story that was written about me without my knowing because of working hard in our brain injury support groups and trying to help people like myself with disabilities who are hurting. Award winning essay by Cindy Cyndy Milstead-Anzek to Extreme Makeover Home Edition LesPaul Morgan of South Carolina  I never tire of telling this story. It is a story of friendship and sticking it out even others told us we would fail. I met LesPaul back in 1999 he was a “client” of mine. Les Paul is a brain injury survivor. He touched my heart. Les Paul began volunteering and soon after CO-founded a group called the Dream Catchers that exists to help those with brain injury and spinal cord injury. I now work for a center for independent living, which is run by and for people with disabilities… I brought Les Paul with me.  He’s now our number one advocate. He runs two support group meetings in two states each Month, He sits on the board of the SC brain injury assoiation, and never tires of helping others. He and his girl friend where featured in the Walton Independent Magazine for overcoming obstacles to relation ships. Les Paul has endured great loss this year as his brother unexpectedly died, his friend passed away of cancer and his mother recently went into a rehabilitation facility prior to returning home with LesPaul and also later passed away. To others, it would sound like a country song, but to Les, it is merely another opportunity to bring power to the people, and to always find triumph over tragedy. It is my great honor to nominate a true inspiration and dear friend for this award.
