Owen Thornton on Ultrarunning at 19-Years Old and Improving Quickly

from Everyday Ultra · host Joe Corcione

While most teenagers never get into the Ultrarunning scene, our guest today jumped right into the madness of the sport at a young age. And given his love for pushing himself, finding out what he’s capable of, and seeking new challenges, he’s been on a track to become one of the more noteworthy names in the sport. Our guest today is Owen Thornton, and he’s a 19-year old ultrarunner based out of North Carolina. And he’s already notched up impressive results such as top 20 at Javelina Jundred, a win at Unico 100M, and several podium finishes at other ultras. In this episode, Owen shares how he’s been able to make progress so quickly at a young age in ultrarunning, why he is training on a 3-workouts-in-a-row plan, and stories on how he was able to bounce back from low points in some of his past races. Huge thank you to Owen for being on the show!
