Oxford Borough votes 5-2 to disband its police force

from KYW Newsradio Audio On-Demand

Tensions boiled over as Oxford Borough Council in Chester County voted to disband its police force Monday night. The 5-2 vote came despite strong opposition from neighbors who spoke during the public meeting. The move makes Oxford part of the Southern Chester County Regional Police Department. Council members say the borough's officers likely would be offered new jobs and would operate in many of the same areas. There's a town hall with the Regional police chief scheduled for Thursday at 7 p.m. at Penns Grove Middle School. (Photo credit: NBC10)
