This episode covers the time of Joseph Smith lll's life with his second wife Bertha Madison. We discover that Joseph is anchored by having a stable homelife. He did not want to have things changed by having other members move in or he move elsewhere and so he asked his wife house hold helper to stay on as housewife to care forcthe house and children while he carried on business and travels. Rumours spread and gossip created upset for the housewife and so Joseph Smith lll prayed for guidance about marriage for it seems convenience to stop rumours and to help life be settled so he proposed to Bertha Madison of Norwegian heritage and she accepted and they were married before a year had passed since his first wife had died. Complaint was made or gossip made that he hadnt waited a year til remarriage and he responded with the words people hadnt waited a year to gossip about his circumstances. Bertha bore him 9 children, of which deaths occurredm heartbreaking a son died aged 16, and a daughter died age 6. One from health conditions the other from a school playground accident. Bertha did not out life Joseph Smith lll, she sustained injury from being flung from her horse buggy twice in a short time and had internal damage and died leaving Joseph Smith lll in the same scenario as the first but this time the children were older, he had been married for over 25 years when he lost his 2nd wife. Liberty Hall is referred to often as being full of hustle and bustle and was built by Joseph Smith lll for his large family with Bertha.
