P.I.D. Radio 8/5/13: Spies of Life

from PID Radio · host Derek and Sharon Gilbert

SPIES HAVE dominated the news of late — the NSA spying scandal has revealed that the US government is basically tracking all our electronic communications. Today we discuss a couple of new revelations. First, CNN reports that the CIA had about three dozen operatives on the ground in Benghazi when the U.S. consulate was attacked last September. Why? They were apparently running guns, shipping missiles from Libya to the rebels in Syria. What could possibly go wrong?Second, a secretive joint venture of the NSA, CIA, IRS, FBI, and DEA called the SOD — Special Operations Division — is sending intercepted data to local law enforcement so police can arrest American citizens — who aren't supposed to be targets of the NSA or CIA ever — for mundane crimes like selling drugs. Also: Stem cell burgers; big terror threat; hacking smart toilets; and Windows 8 kills Derek's laptop. Please visit the P.I.D.
