P4. සිඟිති දෙපා ඔසවා - Lifting the Tiny Feet - சிறிய கால்களைத் தூக்குதல்

from Songs of Liberation - Sri Lanka · host Lionel Bopage

Based on a poem I wrote on 10 December 1983, while being held in detention at the first floor of the Criminal Investigation Department, Colombo, Sri Lanka. Lyrics : Lionel Bopage Music Composition and Music : Jayanga Dedigama Vocals : Lionel Bopage and Harshini Bopage Voice Recording : Niko Schäuble, PugHouse Studios Production : Lionel Bopage Video Recording : Ashoka Peiris Video Production : Lionel Bopage Lifting the tiny feet Lifting the tiny feet, making small strides, beaming with smile, flashing milky white teeth, flaring your small lips and mumbling ‘da…da’, Why are you here in prison, little one to show off your playfulness? Confined unjustly I am to a dark cell, My daughter You are barred from seeing my playfulness at home; So here I am visiting you sitting on the lap of my loving mom. Hunger and suffering are parents’ heritage of thousands of children; Absorb their sorrows and pains to work towards building a world of justice and peace!
