Packers Strategy Without First Round Picks

A press conference held by Green Bay Packers General Manager Brian Gutekunst just before the 2026 NFL Draft. Although the team currently lacks a first-round selection due to a previous trade, Gutekunst emphasizes the importance of monitoring the early rounds to prepare for future veteran acquisitions and late-round maneuvers. The executive expresses confidence in his ability to trade up if necessary, citing a surplus of future draft capital and compensatory picks. Key roster focus areas include bolstering the cornerback position, while Gutekunst remains more optimistic about his current offensive line depth than external critics. Ultimately, the team prioritizes selecting players who align with their specific organizational culture and locker room standards. This overview highlights the strategic preparation required to manage a professional football roster during the league's primary talent acquisition event.
