Doing good. I'm doing great. I'm up here and all of a sudden guy stops over and says, you guys busy? I'm like, not really, but he knew you.
So not busy enough to take a picture. So they're from Texas. They're in here for a week staying at a friend's house. Just like, it's just what training camp is.
I'm driving down here to connect with you and I'm like, I parked a distance away. I'm like, I'll walk over, see the sights and sounds. It's a fun time of year. It's truly like when you live here and you see it, it's like a college town, but really this time of year is one of the college town.
You really can see the people coming in the going and traveling distance. So now I get to be here man and we're going on a week for you training camp already. It's flying by. Yeah, it is.
I think what I'm going to do is take a special time of the year. It's like someone once said Green Bay is a notification destination. Someone said that. But it is.
I just talked to the German Packer. That's why I try to explain to you, training camp family night. This is people coming all over and then it feels the stadium. I get a lot of people like negative Nellies over on Facebook.
That's because there's nothing to do in Green Bay. I'm like, dude, why are people coming? They're leaving the country to watch the Packers practice. Yeah.
So a little reflection, right? I went to family night and Friday night. That was cool. It was a blast.
We had our twin daughters. We had a whole 40 minutes inside the stadium. We hung out before then and just going backward, like it used to be on a Saturday. Maybe they pushed it to Friday for some reason.
I don't know about it or didn't ask you. Just when they should do it. But regardless, yeah, 55,000 people showed up to watch a glorified practice. But it's not just a practice.
It's inside Lambo Field. As a father, you get to see all these other kids run around. It's like, okay, my kids aren't going to annoy too many other people because they don't have kids. And then even just like they do the warms like they normally would do.
And then all of a sudden they're doing the introductions like they normally do. But the introductions, they normally do. You got all the guys with their kids. Matt Orsick's walking out.
So you're frankly the first time you do that. So there's just things you get to take an inside of Lambo and not surprise people on the Internet or negative and especially on Facebook. But I don't know. I mean, yeah, sure.
I mean, if there was something better to do in Dream Man Friday night, I didn't have it on my calendar night days ago. So I bought the tickets and it's like this is what we're doing. So yeah, and after the fact, it is what it is. But it's awesome.
You get to be inside Lambo and see the team in fireworks and it's fantastic. Yeah, I wasn't asking about that. I saw that you're at Family Night. So at Family Night, obviously you're a packer guy, but also a dad.
So were you more in dad mode or trying to see what's going on? Right. Personally, I'm always trying to multitask. And sometimes you just completely drop the ball and stuff and other times it works out.
So I would say we didn't necessarily drop the ball any expectation wise. We're going to get down by the stadium about 6, 6, 15, see the title of the district. That was chaos. Don't recommend that the people that might have social anxiety.
It's like we're taking the playground. There were kids everywhere. Like literally ants. So did that and then we went inside and got to walk the concours, do the thing.
Had enough time. We were able to spread it on our bleacher area. But when the practice started, we were about halfway to have been in there. So I did get to see some stuff.
I did one on one drills from the 40 or 50 yard line. One on one's receivers, corners, safeties, tight ends, et cetera. And that was cool. Christian Watson looks super fast.
Like just like electric. Like his breaks in his quick twitches still there. If anyone had any reservations, I don't know why you would. He wasn't overly injured last year.
Did have his typical blemishes. Outside of that, like Jalen Simpson looked incredible. I misspoke on a packer they were recording. I was saying he was a cornerback.
He's a safety. But definitely putting himself up there to compliment the safety room right now. Bullard's banged up right now with a foot injury. So he's going to take some opportunity there.
But I loved what I saw at Simpson. Outside of that. Yeah. I think the other.
You know, the match ups, like CSA, traveling with Watson a ton. I feel like that's telling. Watson is the number one. You put in your rookie corner against the number one receiver.
It probably tells you he's got the inside lane at least to start right at CB2 or CB1. Marcia Mueira's big. He really looks big. Like I don't know if it's a shoulder pads upgrade him too, but like he's just a thicker guy than I expected.
But yeah, I mean there's just certain match ups that are like, okay, this this a fourth string tight end who's playing bases or first or second in this practice isn't really going to open against Jevon Bullard or who else. But there's some things you can draw conclusions from during a period obviously was traveling home. I mean, I was like, maybe kind of miss lock because I was more focused on video than I was anything else. But Bo-Meltin, like when he went down, it was kind of interesting because right before that me and my buddy were talking about, I wonder when this practice is going to end.
And I'd work at four in the morning. But I wanted to record fireworks, which I usually don't record fireworks, but I was doing it for the videos. But right when Bo-Meltin, like right after he said that Bo-Meltin, I'm like, I'm betting. It's about a wrap on this.
And it didn't look good because there was a lot of people around him. They were kind of blocking to see him make sure no one kind of ran into him while they were looking at him. But they're always safe, you know, careful. Like they'd stay down.
And when I got home, McKinney had a pass breakup. He was coming over the middle, I think on Watson. He kind of hit his head pretty hard. And even on the local broadcast, they replayed it a couple of times.
I had it muted. I'm like, oh man, he like smoked his head on the ground. Could have been, I mean, maybe it's a game. He goes in the blue tent, but at some point you got to kind of wrap it up and I thought it made a statement on that.
I didn't, I saw the paraphrasing up, but it like kind of got sloppy at the end. Last 10 to 15 minutes. Kind of, they talked about it with the team, but it's like, yeah, eventually you kind of have an end date. I don't necessarily, or an end time.
But I think there's to be cognizant of, hey, when does it naturally seem like it'll end? And there was no cherry on top. I feel like the cherry on top used to be like a 60 yard field go from trace Mac or something crazy or a kicker. They didn't have that, but maybe that was why, because they saw that it was getting injured and getting a little bit of a bad product.
Oh yeah, me and my friend were saying it too. Like we were watching, I'm like, this looks bad. It was starting to get like everything was missing. It was just sloppy.
And I was like, I was actually thinking at the time, like, they're going to clip some of the stuff. That's what it makes sense. But yeah, it was getting bad little sloppy. I think that was during the McKinney thing, the mountain thing.
Not only is it a place, someone's going to get hurt because your lack of attention to detail is that's what football is. And yeah, so luckily they got it unscathed. But some talking points, there's some teaching points for the floor this week, right? Hey, that's what we're going to look under the lights.
We're going to be able to practice. We've got to tighten some things up. So give some good bullets and more material for the boys. Yeah, so let's talk about some of these.
We mentioned injuries on Tucker Craft, call him back. He said his doctor said his knee is spectacular, which is a great thing because I don't think, I don't think a doctor would tell me my knee is spectacular. So what are your thoughts on Tucker Craft and, you know, a couple of this. Yeah, I think Crafts had a schedule, in my opinion.
I think most fans a month ago, six weeks ago, they said no, there's no way he's going to start on pup or something. Seems like he's going to be ready for week one. He had the, I don't know what his doctor specifically said, but I do know that he said that he doesn't live life with a seat belt on. So something to that effect, or lives life with no break or whatever.
I don't know what he said, something that someone should put in a t-shirt and sell on their website. But ultimately that's, I think that's, it's good to know that he has that confidence self, but it's also if the team wasn't confident in him like that, they wouldn't allow him to do certain stuff, right? Just because you're thinking that you're physically and mentally in a good spot, post injury doesn't have to be a good player. You know, the players are clearing you, the trainers are seeing it, everything else, right?
Like there's, players are trying to get back in the field with ever sport. And you kind of kind of sometimes put their ego aside and say, hey, the facts are the fact you're coming off of gruesome knee injury. You might think you're fine, but you're going to go and cut and you're going to post drought and you're going to take that inside cut to maybe get across to the safety's face and it's just going to blow out on you. You got to kind of protect them from themselves.
So I don't think Tucker Craft, I think the media department would make him walk back as words if he said some of those things. I don't know how much media training Tucker Crafts honestly cares about if he should have said that he's in a great state and I think it'll be a slower ramp up period as should be expected, right? I don't think he's going to be running every single route and be out there for every snap, but I would think by the end of the first four games he should be back to 100% easily. And so I got a month left, right?
Like there's still some time for him to even get stronger, but I love the trajectory of him and all the other guys are injured, right? No one's really like behind the eight ball it seems, which is, that's like an ask for. Yeah, Tucker Craft, I think right now he might be my favorite player. He's just so fun and it's listening to talk to such a happy dude, even a family night.
Like I was like, I was in the video thing, but even when I wasn't recording, I was just zooming in and you could see him and Joy Love, like on the sideline or on the side when they weren't in. And just screwing around like he was fake tackling Joy Love, it just seems like that chemistry and people talk about the Matthew Golden chemistry with Joy Love is good. I'm excited about the offense. One thing that kind of worries me is like not the most insane ball-nour I pay attention to you guys is the offense line.
Yeah. And like depth but I think offensively, I'm not too worried. I mean obviously it's all about injuries with depth especially, I don't like to mention what is because I feel like I'm putting bad energy on the world. Yeah.
All the past catchers can stay healthy even though they want to get me. I think it's really special. Yeah, I agree. I can go kind of like position my position quickly.
So quarterback play obviously if love goes down, we're screwed anyway. So what's the difference? They saw about basically Malik Willis who was top five backup for Ty Rod Taylor. I assume he'll be the backup.
Kyle McCord's still there. I'm another guy that I'm misremembering of who that is. But I think it's a great state or at least a good state. Running back, like I don't think they did a ton there.
I mean Damian Martinez and Pierre Strong are some lower end guys that could make some impact. I like Pierre Strong. I think he's a versatile piece. Chris Brooks is locked.
Like he is their pseudo H back full back or whatever. He's a fan of the family not even thus so. But then it comes down to like the million dollar, not a million dollar question. Maybe $50,000 question is what you can get a marsh on Lloyd, right?
We've been waiting for years since they drafted with that high equity from USC. Like didn't really need a running back at that spot but we'll take him and the highlights are like, whoa, this guy can do a lot but got to see it on the field. He looks big or he looked big 34 rows up. So I imagine he's put on some good weight.
I would hope and can run some guys over and then let's not forget like Josh Jacobs is getting older, right? Shelf have a running back isn't great. It's 29, 30 years and you're kind of teetering off. So they don't have that Emmanuel Wilson who knew would come in and be a preseason darling, right?
He led the preseason in rushing yards for the whole NFL and it's like, you don't have that anymore. So you need a guy to step up. Who is that? Is it Lloyd?
When healthy, is it pure strong? Gaming Martinez, other guys? Receivers, I love what they did. They tightened it.
They got it to be these three absolute dynamic young superstars. They don't have the extra wicks targets or the Romeo Dobs targets. I don't know if there's anything out there from Melton at this point, whether he's on corner or receiver duties, but those three are going to be really fun to watch this year in this offense. I don't think they put a ton of snaps together either with Golden and Reed and Watson all at once.
And then tight end, pretty much okay. I mean, most of the way we'll see what we get, wily I'm a big fan of. But yeah, it comes on to offensive line. It really does.
Any ranking or list, which is list seasons from basically the day after the Super Bowl up until maybe two weeks from now, where there's lists from PFF or Bleacher, or Board or ESPN and you kind of pull that together at least, roll it down to the next time you have to look at a list of the rankings, the offensive line was 25 to 32 for Green Bay. It's like, they got to get better and they didn't really do much, right? Elton's gone. Rashid Walker's gone.
They signed, they drafted Jager Burton and resigned. John Ryan. That's literally it. Yeah, I think offensive line's the big one because they didn't really put a lot of improvement into it and it was not, it was just bad lashes.
There's really no way to put it. It was just awful and Jordan Love can't do much if he's falling backward because he tends to want to do that. So let him step up, run the balls, establish the run and the trenches are what matter. Yeah, I think a lot of it is going to come down to Matler Floor, play call.
I'm a big Matler Floor fan, but I understand some of the criticism. Obviously perfect, but do you expect anything different from Matler Floor as far as like people talked about, you know, give Jordan Love kind of have the keys and all that. That sounds weird to some people like outside of Green Bay or Packer fans that I get this all the time. Well, what years you and what do you mean?
And it's like Matler Floor like with Rogers, what Rogers kind of did what he wanted to do. I'm not saying that you need to do that, but you expect him to treat Love like, start eating this thing around the field. Yeah, I think a little bit of yeats good in time to still think that Jordan Love saw Utah State when they drafted him. Even watching him as a prospect that coming into that April combine time and there was still some of those tendencies of like Effit, someone's down there I'm going to throw it.
He still does that, which is like if he could correct that, I thought that was the one problem that he had. So I do think there needs to be some, let him kind of play some backyard games and do what needs to be done, but within the confines of the offense you shouldn't be allowed to be, I say allowed, you shouldn't be in a set where it's like we're going to run it and then you check it into a pass. You get sacked, now we're in second and long. Okay, the two plays that look like, basically the drive is screwed because you could throw a pass.
So there is some like rhythm to the game. But Floor talked about that on Thursday or Friday. It's one of those, I caught the press conference. Someone asked him, how do you handle talking to the headset to the quarterback?
I think it cuts off at 10 or 15 seconds left, right, on the play clock. And he said something to the effect of, he likes to do that with Love. Doesn't necessarily want to do all the times he wants him to think. And there was a previous quarterback that he did a do that would just shake him off and basically middle finger him off of the side.
So we all know who that was, but I think he earned that right. I think Aaron Rodgers earned that right within some realm to run the offense, what he saw in the field. But I think there needs to be a collaboration. I think Jordan Love does some things very similar to Aaron Rodgers, does some things that could be a little bit more improved on.
But yeah, I think there was something along the lines I heard of two weeks ago, someone asked the floor, like, how is he going to get Jordan, Matthew Golden involved more? If you'll get him involved more, I think it's a question every day from the beat in some fashion. I don't know if he's going to have much say on that. I honestly think Jordan Love and Matthew Golden are going to be like, like, you know, peanut butter and jelly, a little bit of a spaghetti and meatball situation.
Like I think they're really going to find each other very easily. Watson's going to get the ball deep down field, J-Dreen can be your intermediate behind the line of scrimmage. But I think Matthew Golden can do it all. There were times I shared he was open, they just couldn't get him the ball.
But yeah, I think they got to find that balance, right? I did notice, Eli told me when we recorded for Packaday for Saturday, he said that he noticed that Love was under center like basically the whole time during family night. I didn't notice that. So maybe something that's called up because in 2024 when the offense was humming a little bit more, under center play action, get crafts involved.
So it's also easier to run the ball with Josh Jacobs or a Jet Sweeper, whatever. Under center there is in shotgun third and three and hand the ball off the Jacobs standing four feet back. For seven yards instead of going forward for X-Mom. But yeah, let them eat a little bit, but still within the confines of what the end goal should be of the drive or the series or clock management too.
Yeah, I agree. Like you don't want to go rogue. Just like me playing Madden basically, I get upset. Yeah, 17 hot, raw, terry, fluff, and horribly.
But yeah, I'm hoping that they can throw the ball a bit more. I just like this wide receiver, like we talk about crap. Like you mentioned like Christian Watson went healthy. He just stretched the field and Matthew Golden dude, like last year he, you've seen spot, like he was open.
He just wasn't getting the ball at times or whatever. But this year obviously that chemistry is there. I think that offense can just be so good. I agree.
I agree. And you mentioned Golden not getting open or whatever you want to get, not getting open, getting open. They didn't see him maybe run the wrong routes or the early in the year he was running into you guys. I think it's all within the same idea that he said too many guys.
Let's talk about the other day. It's like we think in a certain personnel grouping, this is on him and the receiver coach or maybe even Senate bitch at the time at OC. You got to know your groupings around the field. I guess like okay some guy stopped off because he was tired or whatever.
Then Dobbs goes in, you expect Dobbs a little bit fast as Watson or Golden. I kind of get that. The chemistry of those five or six guys. But kind of seem like an excuse.
But I think he'll know the playbook more. He'll be more confident as breaks. Everything will just come more nationally to them. You got to remember like these rookies just come in from these crazy, it's from like, dude, it's from like not July.
It's like a full year and a half basically. They don't have time off. They go from end of bowl season to getting ready for the combine to the combine to rookie camp to training camp. They don't have time to breathe or think.
He's trying to figure out his Wi-Fi situation in his house. So when the playbook, Wowsl figure out the best place to eat. So hopefully the off season did him well and I don't know. He glowed last year in training camp.
He's doing it again this year. You got to think it's going to take a step. I think the offense, like you said, it's when healthy, those pieces are incredible. You mentioned about the rookies coming in.
I've always said this. The draft is big hype. There's all in the combine and all that. They're working hard.
And then after it's not that long and they're right in there. You mentioned like they have to move. They have families. They have dependent on who it is.
They're young with some of my own families. There's just a lot going on. Everyone wants to take it. Everyone's trying to work.
I feel like there's for a rookie in the NFL, there's a ton going on. You make mistakes because they're young. I mean, when I was at it, I don't want to talk about what I was doing. I wasn't playing in the NFL.
I've always said it's like even when people talk to him about Caleb Williams, I think this year he should be better because we kind of doggone about this. Every player should be getting better. I think Matthew Golden, with this off season, and going to training camp and doing all the things. I think every player, like the first three, four years, you're always getting better before you know what they are.
It's all situational though, right? There's no excuse at this point for Caleb Williams. He has been Johnson, the QB Whisperer, the offensive guru. He has the receiving court.
They'll ask DJ Marr, but they still have guys that'll be there. I understand in the situation if you were... It's called the Browns, right? They got a new coach again this year.
They drafted two quarterbacks this last year. They got the overwhelming, loom and dark cloud of Deshaun Watson and all the things off the field plus this contract. So it's like, yeah, in theory Dylan Gabriel and Shudir Sander should get better. But the stability is just gone.
We're a franchise like the Green Bay Packers generally. Turnovers very low. Team stage pretty much unified. The coaching says, so it's like your trajectory is better.
Some players just don't get that chance. Guys that go to the Jets, guys that go to the Raiders. The Titans, like it's just normal teams that like, yeah, Cam Ward should take a step in here too, but he's also on his new coach already. It's just a tough thing.
So I would agree, no excuses really for some of these younger guys because the situation is perfect for you to flourish. You just have to go out and put in the work and catch the damn ball and run faster. Touch chance for us. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I think that, like, yeah, every player in those first three years, because I think Jordan Love too is going to make a tough win. It's going to make a tough win. Let me ask about Matt Lefor. People say, you know, obviously they got extended, but do you think how much pressure is Matt Lefor?
I'm like, if this turned out to be, I don't like to put the bad vibes up there, but less than great. And maybe they didn't make the playoffs. Do you think that his job is a little in danger? I mean, did anyone think after that blunder in the playoffs that he was going to be the coach?
I literally after that game was like, I looked at my dad and my family and I was like, was that the last game we saw the floor coach? Because it seemed like it should have been at that point. Now, something that was much more than you and I had said, at least for me, much more than I said, okay, let's just say you get rid of the floor, right back in February, March? Who are you going to get that's better than?
Or even comparable? Like, that's the trade-off. It's like, yeah, you can be pissed off that it didn't work out and he's maybe losing some of his gumption in the big games, but like, was it John Harbo? Is that really the only guy you're going to get?
That's a pretty rough resume out there of coaches. A quarter of them turn over pretty much every year. Then there's other guys on the peripheral that are looking for a job, but yeah, I guess it's like, it's kind of one of those that's not broke, don't fix it situation. It's clearly, there was something broken or I still think there is a little bit of what he can do, but yeah, it's like, what do you get as an alternative?
I'm not a spot to be in, but I agree there's a lot of pressure. I think that's probably maybe for the players, it's better that the floor has the pressure on them. They don't have to maybe press as much knowing that they're kind of going to get ramped up with some of these injuries. Guys are coming back, they'll have like a parsons, they'll have these shots in the arm throughout the year early on.
But yeah, I mean, I think the biggest pressure is on the floor. He's got to win some big games. Like, in your head, anyone listening to this, like, think of the big games, the floor is one. I think of a few, maybe a few.
I think there was a Chiefs game I came to back in December a few years back, that was awesome. Big game, right? So he had to kind of get up for it, but like, the Cowboys playoff went two years ago, that was all Jordan Love. Like, he was playing out of his mind, right?
So it's like, how many big games has Matt Lefor helped? Puffed to say, but we all can, of course, because we're living this negative world, like, we can think of a lot of games that he messed up. So I think in the big moment, he's got to be able to figure it out and call some better plays schematically and like, don't waste timeouts. Make sure we're getting the plays in.
False play. Like, there's just certain things that's like, there are in his control a little bit, getting the play in faster, but yeah, I think there's a ton of pressure on him. It seems like it's less since I got the contracts renewed, but I still think Ed Policy is going to hold those guys with the fire to say, hey, ball, gooty, and Lefor you guys are tied together for better for worse. I don't know what happens if they have a bad year though, right?
If they're 9 and 8, don't make a playoff game, lose in a playoff game, a bit more faster just again. Contractually, I don't know how that works. Do they just fire him? Maybe.
I don't know what they're on the hook for at that point, but I think there's a ton of pressure on them. I would say, I can't think of someone else on the team that has more pressure, right? I mean, Jordan Love's kind of playing with House Money. Everyone else is in the spot where they're either coming back from injury and they were exceeding expectations or climbing to the top three, top five, but I think it just all comes back to the floor.
Like, I don't see another way ever it doesn't. Yeah, I got the same thing last year with people saying they want to fire and I'm a matler floor guy But I was I was like they might fire up yeah But but I was in the same way who they gonna hire because you can't fire a coach and then just like we'll figure out Looking around and like you know there was Harbaugh maybe I don't know if they even considered that going after him Maybe it was behind the scenes already knew what he wanted or whatever I don't know but I just don't think that there was anything better that they can look around and I do think even with an extension They could work out they could still fire. I know that there's gonna be a hit but they don't have an owner to pocket No, no, I think they all got extended for three years. I think they're lined up for three I could be misremembering that when it happens.
Yeah, I think I was a big thing is that we don't know how much Yeah, those are like details like it's rare that the details aren't leaked That's that's classic Packers man Yeah, rarely does an Adam Schefter tweet or a Tom Pella cereal tweet come out with details of a contract for the coaching staff It's normally they resign That's about it and then weeks later. We'll find out the details are but that's how they do it here 1265 it's they don't let a lot of secrets and information out and I think it's sometimes good relatively good sometimes bad But yeah, I don't know what the details are I think it came out weeks later, but regardless regardless I think he knows that So he can you figure it out, right? Got some guys around him John Gannon, right? He's a yeah, coach in this league no more rich wasacha I think he was well respected in the organization sounded like but maybe a different perspective from a younger guy more of his peer Like a Jonathan Gannon came a car coming in a lot of juice, right?
Yeah, come on. Come on. Come on. Hey, I'm gonna get stuff away from the podium Mind if I show you how you guys to hold it I mean just exploring the creative space, which is fantastic.
You'd love to see that from a special team coordinator Yeah, I was so pumped about that I think but I always follow the coaches like even when you know half of us here Yeah, yeah, just listen to people talk about football and I mean special teams someone I think it was Jacob Westendorf maybe Dan Kotnik Quantified special teams the pornography. I don't know exactly what it is, but I'll tell you or bad special teams I don't know what bad special teams technically is But I'll know when I see it and maybe it's on the reverse end Maybe it's like I know what good special teams I don't necessarily know what to tell you how a gunner should run down But I can tell you if he's getting thrown out of bounds and tripping that's not good But I think where it's just full such a detailed sport and we look at offense defense touchdowns exes and owes Fantasy football points special teams is like out of our brain Yeah, for someone to explain it more is nice to see in there because there's just so many There's just so many things to think about like there's the snap the puns in the air. Yeah hang time 4.9. That looks good Let me go to the bathroom another beer.
You don't think about the operation. We don't think about the snap to the hold of the kick There's just so much that goes into it, but um, yeah, shout out to Kimmy That's kind of juice I want to see from a special team coach. Yeah, he seems like he loves his job He's doing and then dad will kind of rub off on the players a little bit But yeah, I agree with special teams like you don't know it's bad unless everyone knows everyone knows Unless you see it, I'm falling down they're doing stuff I think it's anymore often to lie whenever people act like I'm like, I don't know dude I mean I mean I'm a divine like special teams like I mean you could tell when it's horrible But to me like try to break it down often so I mean often sign is tough because you can see a guy get his butt kicked But you don't know if the check was wrong You know if he was thinking oh, I'm gonna pick up the detackle to my left shoulder and we're gonna combo black him with the other guy Or actually like there could just be a miscommunication across the board so you look you're hung up to dry right? You might actually like oh actually I thought I had help here.
I didn't have hope here so Yeah, I think of like Aaron Banks last year at some tough moments I think there were directly on him, but there wasn't great synergy with Elton Jenkins There was it was up in the air so yeah some of that technical stuff for like that more traditional football stuff that it's just tough to pick up on Yeah, I think that's why I do this stuff because I we're gonna cheat Friday I don't watch film like I do a podcast and I do the thing But I'm just a fan so I try to be ignorant when I'm like oh this guy messed up right here Cuz you don't know what they're supposed to do and some people might smarter than me But so I try to get all crazy music because you really don't know what to play call with or maybe someone told him Hey, do this because I'm gonna do this or whatever and the same thing can be said for the secondary to remember Demarius Randall that whole saga there was plays were just like he was out of sync I think it came out that it was just like bad coaching Same thing like you could say like a corner is in a certain squat in the in the like maybe the flat and he should pick up the Running back leaking out or something but like in reality is a different assignment It's like it looks bad on paper, but you don't know the whole story Yeah, I'm secondary especially like that's a tough one because it's such a communication thing or it's like I don't know maybe save your mckinney thought he had over the top it's just a Every layer everything right I remember like a few years ago I'm a little bit more than that. It was made by Devonta and was chirping with a one of the top corners Jalen Ramsey yeah, I knew all this stuff and he didn't touch on him Yeah, he was like screaming I'm supposed to get help like even at the back of the back of a little bit I'm like oh, you got a bird, but you know like he was probably I assume he was right there Yeah, it was I remember the play was like a shotgun Maybe stack to the right side with three of them right and the motion on Adams and then most about why and emotion back in he kind of runs Just like quick like zig her out like a motion up that's in mad these days and yeah There should have been either a pass off or something like that But it's like yeah great I'm gonna be like put a guy in motion see what they do if he follows you kind of know if not kind of an idea and Yeah, you see the clip and you're like or you see it live you're like on any cook Jalen and leave him a sideline instantly Come back from breaking like oh, he's pissed because there was a communication that happened in a split second someone and hear it or Didn't believe it that he could get theirs to it and it's a yeah without that sideline access right? We're just like oh Jane Lynn Lance Rams absolutely fried to add which is somewhat true, but also wrong based off the assignment I was still trolling. Oh, of course.
Yeah, so let's talk about the defense a little bit over here We got a my car since talking about week five weeks sick. Yeah Do you think that the Packers pass rush can't be good with all because my here's my thinking I don't know if I'm here Ask you but if the Packers are in a good situation like things are going well for them the Mike apart So it's gonna be so awesome because it's gonna be so much energy It's gonna lift them but if they're in a bad situation and you're like my car's come save us You know that is gonna be a bad. It's gonna be a messy to me too much pressure I have that too much I think it'll be fine with it But uh do you think that they have enough that pass rush without him help so I think LVN said a good camp I think there's a I mean LVN is so much opportunity right now and I don't think it's gonna be the the Compliment to Mike on the other side. He's literally their main pass rush right now Which is like you're getting all the first team reps all the number one guys you're going up against Jordan Morgan you're going up against You know zach tom when he's out there It's like I think LVN just he has to really own it right really own the draft couple you're drafted at and reach another Height whether Parsons is there or not you have this chance to really once Parsons comes back to really to be a dynamic One two punch and so you have that chance right now everything after LVN is kind of up in the air Beren's rel is looked good or at least looked at the last week and a half Brett and Cox had a good start to camp I didn't really hear about him even that family night in the last couple weeks or last week I should say Deneed in a Sutton looks like a guy that could you know plug and play but he's a rookie like that's like I think rookies are probably easy on The edge is to come in and like third down go sack the guy or go touch the guy with the red jersey I think it's easier to do easier to do that than other positions But yeah, I think to your point like there would be nothing worse than the Packers being let's say he comes back week six They're two in three.
They have one sack on the year. They're 30th and Passing yards given up all because of my car since no pass rush and they rush him out there go save us and he's maybe not as Up to 100% as he could he overdoes it because he thinks he needs to be a superstar to save the team And he goes down in week two or three to the second or the third week when he's back and week eight and it's Another scrap half of a season. So I think they definitely need to I think the expectation should be just expect my car Since maybe never to walk to that locker room again. Here's the guys you have when he gets back.
That's a benefit We're not gonna say please please please number one rush back week five So you can come save us so we don't go sub 500 I think that would be an ignorant thing to do and I think Jonathan Gannett sounds like is either right now getting pretty creative Like the corners and the DB's that he's blitzing they kind of makes some extra pressure Maybe that'll kind of stay on once Mike goes back as well But I think overall it's there's just so many guys that just need to step up and take it I'm sure I'm missing another pass washer at some point. I was four or three I mentioned but It just seems like it's there for the taking really it's even like with craft down right now It's like or like craft not at family night like dad He was able to do some stuff widely table like you guys have this chance to make a name for yourself and really You know correct course correct in there You have two months to do that so but I think that's a huge question because when we saw the pass was wasn't there To want to why it wasn't there Mike a Parsons wasn't there the secondary was a shell of itself and it's complimentary football You gotta be there for the past year and make those DB's lives a little bit easier that one banana two banana three banana Ball she got out of the hand not scrambling for five six seven yards. Yeah, yeah seconds like Caleb Williams was doing yeah You talk about that as yeah, this is an awesome opportunity for him. I'm huge And I think my partner even when he's on the field he's doing stuff because I was watching a family night I think it was offensive lineman.
He was talking to and he was kind of like you know almost like coach I'm a little bit maybe showing what he would do what yeah, I think is ultimately just I think him just being in the building Yeah in the early weeks can can help guys. I feel like he's like half a coach absolutely Yeah, so yeah, so secondary we're gonna see because the pass rush is that that's the second thing that worries me It's often to line I think it every year though it is for me is that I feel like a good offensive line and a defensive line is playing Well, that is like what what build championships. I agree I had a friend who is very much into the NBA but still loves the Packers and we'll go through these Scenarios or analogies said what if a team for just 10 straight years only drafted offensive line and defensive line didn't do any like They could free agent pick up other guys or you get like Pretty sick. You probably have like a top five pass rush top five off inside What would that do for team?
You'd bear minimum? You probably be 500 maybe you have your eye taken snap center But at least we're not gonna get smoked right we're gonna be able to hand it off for pass it So I think yeah, it's I think generally speaking often So I was never been an issue for the Packers. I think last year there were some moving parts that Excuse me, there's a lot of moving parts left to right right Morgan Rashid Walker than it was Elton Chinkan where he's gonna go Aaron Banks had brought in Belton's getting a wrap Sean Ryan goes down Zach's like there was a ton of inconsistency and That's normally not the case So often so I was like we can work with this get us to November in December and January and we'll run the ball with Ryan Grant or we'll run the ball with Eddie Lacey or run the ball with whomever and it's gonna be fine I feel like but always like pass was always the problem. We're like man I really really hope we can get double-digit sacks out of race on Gary or LVN Or whoever it was and now that we have that piece Great we got a taste of it what it could look like and I think that's that's the difficult part the rumor for months and months And months and months was my car's gonna get traded right no It's on Labor Day weekend you get straighter like well look at this We're set to go and then the first couple weeks you like this is incredible Yeah, and then just to get it ripped out from under you're like okay.
Wow, that's what we can look like when we have a stud pass right I mean a number one pass washer and everyone else would be better, but yeah, it's a No, no, no, but I think that the the back to point to think that the offensive line is a question this year and the defensive line Shouldn't be but it's gonna start that way is a little uncomfortable because games can get out of hand very quickly if you can't establish The trenches and that's really what we're talking about Yeah, and we seen like last season what happened when Parsons went down and they didn't want another game and all that But I mean you talked about the trade right and almost and then six-act spot I was talking with hot school it's love it right before that and he was like there's no way you think Jerry's gonna trade him And he was basically I mean I agreed with them. Oh, yeah, there's no chance and I posted a clips and all that that trade happened People were roasting like this guy doesn't know he's talking about my it's less hot to work Hackers not comms senior. I mean, you know, but who really could have expected that there was probably you know What comes down to it like you look think it like businesses right if let's say Schneider's gonna make some big acquisition. They're not telling everyone in the organization even in the media front West Hot Gbits Mike's buff like they're not telling them that right?
It's about four or five people that probably know this is gonna happen Yeah, one of them was probably Brian Gudekunz another one was maybe Russ ball Matt Lefler Jerry Jones Maybe one or two other people a couple agents and that's really it because the way that those things fall apart is Too many people know about it. It's on ESPN It's on the ticker people are talking about on the Matt Ramage show and it's like all of a sudden everyone knows about it So I think it was kind of telling the not telling but it was I agree with the less like at that point Rumors had swirled for two months like eventually the smoke is gonna settle and it's gonna be nothing left And the fact that it lasted that long was that was a surprising part that it just took that long for it's finally done and then like basically The end of the offseason before the season was gonna start then it happened which was strange But it did always seem like something was gonna happen just based off of all the money They have to spend the cow was last year were very stupid without they're doing their contracts They don't get ahead of it like the Packers do they're gonna wait till the last minute and then well supply to man I guess we have to overpay for this guy because someone else reset the market You know be John Robinson just resigned right now. Jamir Gibbs just resigned Let's say like another player's going to this end of this year It's like well, okay another running back. I need to get paid You just saw what the market is at least probably gonna impact that and they were in that same spot with Parsons They did it with a couple other guys's deal they need to figure out but yeah That was crazy.
Where were you in the trade happen? I was in my cottage kitchen cooking a brunch for my daughters and I randomly pulled out my cell phone minimal I find search in a Wisconsin and I'm like Wait a second. I just checked Twitter and between cooking some eggs and we have my car since this is I don't know Do right now I'm gonna burn some eggs. I got hungry kids, but I gotta get I gotta talk to people Yeah, I think I might not work I don't remember my memory isn't as good as yours, but definitely usually when stuff happens I might work Oh, yeah, I'm right.
Look at my phone. I got a video and then I've all these ideas in my head and then when I get out I'm just like tired of that feeling like yeah But yeah, I'm going back to like not believe in that person would come to me Is that it's not what the Packers do? That kind of what West was saying they don't give up picks and yeah, and there's so much that go wrong like you said Like you can have a deal in place like just trying to find you in a few things But also something happens or the player doesn't want to go there You don't know if Mike a how he thought about sure I love it, but you didn't know that at that point in West was right He said 15 years working for this team He has a pretty damn good understanding of what the big trades have happened like that to that caliber of a player even signing a Player of that caliber right so I think that was fair and I think the one thing that might have tipped the scales Which is like some of the disrespect from Jerry Jones right thinking there was a handshake deal in place There wasn't I don't know how you a handshake deal over hundreds of millions of dollars But that's outside of yours my a tax bracket But I think just some of the disrespect that went along the way right you call them Michael Parsons Just think like that was like ended in my mic was right just like dude I don't really care like for get this down or I'm gonna sit out and just like that's your Jones. Oh, that's your job football He says some stuff and sometimes it's funny and sometimes it's like you're also just like out of pocket a girl dude That's a oil billionaire tough to trust your opinion.
It's so weird with that situation because my car sense loves the Cowboys Yeah, I've talked to his brothers brothers, but I'm a podcast and they love the Cowboys and the group He wanted to be a couple for a life and then just like it just we I think it seemed to me like he was trying to like Let's just that's just me and you were buddies. We're family. We don't need these pesky agents over here Like no, that's not you know Because at the end of the day who's gonna lose that is it gonna be the 20s athlete or the guy that's negotiated deals and deals And deals his whole life in his 80s that it's like you're gonna get taken for a ride at that point I don't think market was stupid by any means maybe there was a handshake conversation, but like Doesn't that doesn't you can't send a handshake into the league offices. I hear here's a new contract or like David Mulligan Oh, you guys shake your cans.
Yeah, I'll just write contract up as here it is and then we'll film a dollar signs later That's just not how stuff works like it's wild and it seemed to me like like his brother was saying it They had a really good relationship, so maybe I think you maybe felt like you know We were good like you know a family yeah, and then you kind of seems like you're just trying to screw me now literally Yeah, and then you say the name wrong like if everything was like they say like Mike even said like you know You had a lot of love for Jerry. Yeah, yeah, I'm gonna say my name wrong like crazy crazy crazy But um, yeah, so I'm excited one of the season this Thursday. She said TV is doing a watch party over at D2 I'm gonna I'm a special guest. That's awesome.
That's fantastic Not like a D2 I mean they're gonna hook you up over there. You're gonna probably be behind the bar or do whatever else. No, it'll be fun Um, it's in that's again back to how this conversation started Nigglers and Tyler Corry's in town. You're in there's gonna be more meetups all along the way She said TV stuff pack of a stuff, you know Just people internationally coming for games and it's like every week I feel like I have my own priority list of things that's gonna be done in the week But then all of a sudden friends are in town or events pop up and like I'll swing off for this because you only see people because the packers He's in coming to town.
So yeah, shout out. She said TV and all the stuff that they're ramping up with but um, yeah I mean busy time of the year, right? It's fun. It's good, but uh, kind of gives you a little a little bit tired in the morning I know you work early or mornings.
I'm up early now with the kids and going a bit to bed late But kind of wake up you're like, all right, I'm off a couple hours of sleep get some extra coffee me But I can talk training camp at Matt Ramage today I got fancy full the prep for you preseason games coming It's like kind of gives you an extra motivation to go to bed and you hope by week five or six You sell that motivation once part of the back, right? Yeah, I don't think I slept more than three four hours tonight in the last like three four I'm actually I'm going home. I'm gonna schedule this and get it quick. Yeah, and then I'm going to bed I'm going to bed by four five because when you got my do live stream I'll do a lot of shit and yeah, and I get to sleep when you get it.
Yeah, but yeah Like negative and I'm very negative when my very people He's such a nice guy and he's kind of you know, he's entertaining because a lot of people do this like I do this but he knows He knows ball. He's very good at it. I think sometimes I'm not talking anyone Yeah, but some people are good at one or the other. Yeah, even me like a people find me entertain But no one's too into my show.
I'm like well skill skill to be overly ball knowledge But not too much but still not be dry or like you're teaching a nine-speed civics class like people want to listen to you And I will say for a nigga I met nagler you met nagler online sometimes a personality is a little bit different because he's dealing with people that are just It's all day long, but like still good dude There's a lot of good people in this packers community I think we're pretty fortunate that it is the green bit packers and without she said to be there is I'll say There's no pack of the podcast. There's no Matt Freilich on the internet There's no Matt Ramage like it's a so they paid the way and there's other ones out there that have done that but yeah Thursday D2 what do we any special guests you any special surprises a special guests? What are we doing there? I mean no, I don't think people just like come hang out watch this game Talk we did it a couple years ago.
I was part of it It's fun people like to scream to nagler questions and whatnot and it's gonna be good time So let's talk about the packet a before the boys on here. Yeah, speaking of people ball more Andy Herman everyone over there Um, you're you're you're part of package. Let's let one know what you do a pack a day when they can catch you because everyone knows who lives Let's talk about back in all time. Yeah, every day there's a podcast every day.
There's a podcast. Yeah, so then with pack of day podcast for eight years Literally recorded the first episode in the atrium over here awful audio terrible audio You know when I recorded an episode you know Mac you talking about the running back situation at the time I don't even remember what it was it could go find it It's in the archives on wherever you get your podcast, but yeah, then with them for eight years Andy is an absolute Just great collaborator very well organized I imagine he's on the lacking amount of sleep as you are as well But I'm pack the podcast audio episode every single day Spotify Apple podcast Google wherever you get your podcast in 2026 on YouTube daily shows over there plus so it's daily all video show from Andy plus like you'll do like you and A's members only is we hop in the chat and ask questions He pretty much gets every question, which is awesome happy hours are fun like on a Friday afternoon Maybe you're kind of looking on work at crack open a cruise later on 3 o'clock and get in the chat See what Andy's got to say and it's a great at least for me even in the off-season It's a great source to understand where things are going where things were and even this time of the year Like I might be busy with some stuff and I can at least pop into the YouTube stream and ask some questions or you know Catch up from the previous day whatever that might be content wise because there's so much out there But yeah daily episodes on the audio side the YouTube side on Twitter of course at pack of a podcast other social channels We're putting out stuff tick-tock Facebook Instagram, but yeah supporting one over there I always say like if you don't have a Twitter account slash X just make one and then follow pack of a podcast and Matt Ramage Good way to kind of cure your own like feed that's just packers ball-knowers or ball information or interesting stuff And then for myself you can still follow me over on Twitter at Matt underscore fray underscore. So every Saturday 11 episodes. It's Eli Berkovitz who have already shouted out Janelle Mackie So our app Janelle's awesome our episodes will primarily during the year be around inte report reason being Friday the inte report comes out about free Three thirty Lambo time central standard time so we report right after that knowing who has a destination going in the weekend Who's likely not to play who's gonna get activated who's not and kind of understand it from both teams perspectives because the next time you have an Injury update is 90 minutes for the game on Sunday or technically on Monday But we'll play that for a different day. So it's a new name to find out at 10 30 a.m So that's pretty much the last chance you have to like all right is a talk or craft can be ready to go for week one Is March Halloween gonna be active for week one like those types of things But leading up to that we'll start getting into more of like the injury focus right we'll do a little reaction to Steelers Packers obviously be a day in between there, but that's gonna be fun like McCarthy Rogers the floor while there's gonna be some Some some photos gonna hit the Internet's gonna go do some numbers That's gonna do some stuff if they get all four of those guys or even whatever like Tungans on the team too like just funny stuff But yeah, check out packet a podcast DMS always open I always say this and people taking up a lot more recently if you're coming into town for training camp preseason game regular season game What do I do?
