Padres Edge Rockies in Nail-Biter | San Diego Padres News

The Padres pulled off a heart-stopping 8-7 win over the Rockies, sealing it with a jaw-dropping catch by Manny Machado in the bottom of the ninth. After building a six-run lead early thanks to Tatis Jr. and Machado, San Diego’s bullpen faltered as Colorado clawed back. With the Rockies’ winning run at the plate and two outs, a pinch-hitter’s grounder was snatched by Machado, who fired to first for the final out. Closer Mason Miller then locked it down with his 37th save, striking out ten of fourteen batters. The Padres aim for their ninth straight win against the same Rockies team today, while the Yankees and Dodgers officially clinch playoff spots and Corbin Carroll delivers a walk-off heroics.
