PADRES POSTCAST: PADRES HOLD ON! Michael King DEALS, Merrill Hits 421 Foot HR in 3-2 Win Over Astros

The San Diego Padres survive a dramatic ninth inning and beat the Houston Astros 3-2 at Petco Park, evening the three-game series at one game apiece.   Michael King delivered exactly the performance San Diego needed, holding a dangerous Houston lineup to just three hits and one run over six innings with six strikeouts and only one walk.   Jackson Merrill provided the biggest swing of the night, crushing a 421-foot home run to center field in the third inning to break a 1-1 tie. Merrill drove in both of San Diego's official RBI and helped provide just enough offense on a night when the Padres finished with only five hits and went 0-for-6 with runners in scoring position.   But the biggest pressure moment came in the seventh.   Adrian Morejon entered with two runners aboard, then walked Yainer Díaz to load the bases. With Houston threatening to erase San Diego's lead, Morejon struck out Jake Meyers to strand all three runners and then returned for a scoreless eighth inning.   Mason Miller made the ninth interesting, allowing Houston to pull within one, but spectacular defense from Ty France — including a tremendous play with Miller covering first — helped San Diego survive.
