Padres Smash Orioles with Power
from MLB Baseball News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
San Diego obliterated Baltimore 9-3 with fireworks from the start—Jackson Merrill and Samad Taylor each smashed two-run homers, including Taylor’s first career blast. Gavin Sheets, Durán, and Machado added solo shots for a relentless offensive onslaught. The Orioles countered with Pete Alonso’s homer but struggled to capitalize, setting a bizarre record with eight plate appearances batting .000 with two outs and no one on. Things turned spicy in the ninth when a Padres reliever hit a batter, leading to ejections for both pitcher and manager. Still, San Diego’s early lead and power proved unstoppable.
