Palm Sunday Devotional - Video
from Hicksville Mennonite Hosted by Dave Stoltzfus
On Palm Sunday at Hicksville, after a service of hymns, prayer, and sharing of prayer requests, the message begins with an honest look at the discouragement everyone faces. Demanding jobs, strained relationships, children’s hard choices, declining health, loss, and the everyday frustrations of life can all weigh us down. The speaker affirms that discouragement is universal, but that Christians must deal with it in the right way. The message warns that prolonged discouragement can lead to self-pity or a hardened, bitter heart. God may not always lead us out of our circumstances, but He promises to help us through them. The remedy is to turn our focus away from ourselves and toward God’s faithfulness and care, bringing our struggles to Him, as 1 Peter 5:7 urges. The sermon then introduces a reading called “The Devil’s Tool Sale.”
