P&P Episode 202: Chris Buck "How Students Can Dominate in the Classroom"

The Prepped and Polished Podcast is an educational and inspirational show that offers tutoring and test prep tips as well as interviews with celebrities and leaders in education. It is hosted by Alexis Avila, founder of Prepped and Polished LLC, a tutoring and test prep firm for K-college. On today's show, Alexis talks with Chris Buck, a mental conditioning coach, author, and president and founder of Christian Buck Consulting and the creator of The Sport of School Academy. Chris shares ten things students can do to dramatically improve their performance in school. Chris Buck’s ten tips: 1. Sit in the front row 2. Write down test dates as soon as you know them in your weekly/online planner. If you have a test on Monday, start reviewing on Thursday so you can ask questions on Friday at school! 3. Get a 100% on the first quiz/test/homework assignment for each class. 4. Make certain that you earn 100% on all “extras” (i.e., Homework, Attendance, Class Participation, etc.). 5. Complete ALL homework assignments (without looking up the answers). 6. Take advantage of all extra credit opportunities, even if you got a 100%. You may need those points later. 7. Challenge a classmate to a contest of who can receive better grades in that class. 8. Get to know your teacher. 9. Study PRIOR to the night before the test. 10. For labs, find the best partner, not necessarily your best friend. How parents can help: Parents can help inspire kids by taking them on college tours to show them where they can end up going if they work hard. Chris Buck’s tips for teens: 1. Learn work ethic and practice working hard hard! 2. Develop a love of learning. 3.
