Panicman
from Oak Blood Three · host Oak Blood Three
I composed and recorded this in September 1992. At the time, I was experimenting with an odd nonatonic scale: C - D - D♯ - E - F♯ - G - G♯ - A♯ - B - C It's essentially a chromatic scale, except for the notes of an F augmented chord. (At the time I "discovered" the scale, I thought of it as a C Hungarian minor with an added major 3 and minor 7). Later, I learned that this is one of Olivier Messiaen's "Modes of Limited Transposition", which means in this particular case ("Mode 3") there are only 4 "keys" of the scale (C - C♯ - D - D♯). Starting at other pitches gives a set of pitch classes identical to those from one of the original 4. Reference: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Modes_of_limited_transposition Instruments used (as I recall): * Roland D-50 Synthesizer * Roland R-5 Drum machine * Yamaha RGZ-211M guitar (with E-Bow and slide). * Hamer Chapparal 5-string fretless bass guitar
