Pappygate – The Story of the Great Bourbon Heist

The Bourbon King Toby Curtsinger was featured on the Netflix documentary Heist for his alleged role in stealing a half million dollars in expensive Pappy Van Winkle bourbon from Buffalo Trace, the Kentucky distillery that he’d worked at since 1988. The case became known as Pappygate!Toby, and Jeff Waldridge, who worked in law enforcement in Kentucky at the time, tell Toby’s story in great detail. They outline the culture of the bourbon business, recount all of the events an circumstances lead up to and after Toby’s arrest and conviction, and explain how the highest level of Kentucky politics factored into Toby’s case.
