Parable of the Ten Virgins ~ Pt 5 ~ The Foolish Virgins: Our Lamps Have Gone Out!
from Hebraic Heritage Radio Podcasts · host Eddie Chumney
And the foolish said unto the wise, Give us of your oil; for our lamps are gone out. But the wise answered, saying, Not so; lest there be not enough for us and you: but go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. Matthew 25: 8-9 Why is it that the wise virgins are concerned that there might not be enough oil for them and for the foolish virgins? It’s because this is taking place at midnight, when darkness covers the earth and gross darkness the people (Isaiah 60:2). It was because the coming of the bridegroom to fetch his bride happens at the midnight hour…in the darkness of night. This is an allusion to the “Day of the LORD” and Jacob’s trouble. It is a time of clouds, darkness, and gloominess. The foolish virgins did not arise to return to the Torah. They lost their zeal for following after Yeshua and His Torah. The wise virgins are ready and prepared for their bridegroom; they were following Yeshua and His Torah. Once we are a part of Yeshua’s family, once we become betrothed to Him in stage 1 of the marriage, where we are legally married to Him but do not physically dwell with Him, we are to remain faithful and loyal to Him and follow Him and His Torah until He comes back for us. Then we can enter into stage two of the marriage, that is, physically dwell with Him. How do we make sure our lamps don’t go out? How do we keep our lamps burning? How do we be counted among the wise virgins and the not the foolish virgins? Listen in and find out!
