Parables — Parable of the Builders

Beginning with the sheer number of competing Christian denominations, this message turns to three short parables closing the Sermon on the Plain in Luke 6:39-49 : the blind leading the blind, trees known by their fruit, and the wise and foolish builders. The theme is discernment. False teachers are dangerous because they cannot see, cannot save, cannot satisfy, and cannot survive. The recurring counsel is to know Scripture well enough not to be misled, modeled on the Bereans who examined the message daily, and to test even one's own pastor's teaching against the text. The closing question is what a life is built on. The rock is the infallible word — and the decisive difference between the two builders was not knowing it but doing it. Application, not information, is what holds when the flood comes.
