Parables — The Parable of the Rich Fool

Against a culture that endlessly sings about wanting more, this message reads Luke 12:13-21 , where a man interrupts Jesus' teaching to demand his share of an inheritance. Jesus answers with a warning against every kind of greed: life does not consist in the abundance of possessions. The rich man's plan to tear down barns and build bigger ones is, the message notes, prudent business — yet God calls him a fool, because he forgot God and his own mortality. The trouble is not money itself but money having him; 1 Timothy 6 indicts the love of it, not the thing. Four lessons follow: he credited himself for his wealth, planned as if he were God, spoke only of I , and lived without God first. The application reframes possessions as stewarded, not owned, and giving as a lordship issue of the heart.
