Jim Berkland is a maverick geologist who worked many years for the U.S. Geological Survey. He was the first County Geologist for Santa Clara County in Northern California. Many of Berkland’s theories based on tides, moons, strange animal behavior, and magnetic field changes were factors in the “World Series Quake” (which he predicted and coined) and in the great Indian Ocean quake-tsunami disaster on Dec. 26, 2004. He is popular guest in many network news programs and talk shows on the subject of earthquake prediction.
