Pardon My Jargon - "Gospel" & "Preaching"

I have yet to meet a Christian who, when asked, can point to a place in the Bible where the word 'gospel' is defined. Of course, they can point to verses that support their idea of what the gospel is, but ask them to point to at the Bible's definition of the gospel and they are completely at a loss... at least, that has been my experience. So how about you?Can you answer the question? Furthermore, why is the 'gospel' the Messiah and His disciples proclaimed seem so different from the one Paul proclaimed? Could there be two "gospels"?! And while we're at it, what exactly is 'preaching'? Especially 'gospel preaching'?
