Ya’akov Avinu spent the last seventeen years of his life in Egypt, a time of peace and fulfillment after decades of struggle. As his life neared its end, Ya’akov called for Yosef and asked him to swear that he would not bury him in Egypt but in Eretz Yisroel, with his ancestors. Yosef swore to honor his father’s request. Ya’akov then blessed Yosef’s sons, Efraim and Menashe, elevating them to the status of tribes within the Jewish people. This act ensured that Yosef’s legacy would hold a unique and eternal place in Jewish history. We find how unique and special Efraim and Menasha were. We learn the ultimate blessing we can experience.
