Part 1: Elements Of Abuse:The Power Of Awareness w/ Kim Day

from Choose To Be with Choose Recovery Services; Betrayal Trauma Healing · host Choose Recovery Services - Alana Gordon and Amie Woolsey

On today's show we welcome Kim Day, LMHCA, CCPS therapist who specializes in relational abuse. For the next three weeks Kim and Amie discuss the different elements of abuse in relationships. We start the discussion today by discussing the importance of awareness.  "I spent a lot of time studying addiction and I knew that was a component, but there was this nagging feeling like I was missing something.  And it wasn't until I read Lundy Bancroft's book, Why Does He Do That? That I started to put it in this other and make sense of this other picture that I had never seen. It just hadn't really crossed my mind that there was abuse in the relationship." If you are experiencing abuse in your relationship please reach out to someone who is trained to help you navigate your path and healing.  Please call 1800-799-SAFE for more information and help with abuse
