Part 2 – Introduction to Revelation

from Postmillennialism on SermonAudio · host Dr. Ismael Miranda

In Part 2 of Introduction to Revelation (Revelation 1:1–3), from the series Christ Victorious, the Church Victorious, we carefully examine how the book of Revelation should be interpreted. After reviewing its purpose—to comfort and strengthen the Church by revealing the reigning and victorious Christ—we consider the four primary interpretive approaches: Preterist, Historicist, Futurist, and Idealist. Each view is explained clearly, along with its strengths and weaknesses. Particular attention is given to the question of the millennium in Revelation 20, comparing Premillennialism, Postmillennialism, and Amillennialism. This sermon affirms the amillennial understanding, recognizing the millennium as the present reign of Christ between His first and second comings. Far from being a book of confusion or speculation, Revelation is shown to be a message of steady hope for believers in every age. Christ reigns now, Satan's power is limited, and when our Lord returns, it will be visible, decisive, and final—bringing resurrection, judgment, and the new heavens and new earth. Therefore, the Church is called to read, hear, and keep this prophecy with confidence, perseverance, and joyful expectation.
