Here is some much needed news that should transform the way we live and experience the world today: By the grace of God manifest through Christ’s sinless life, atoning sacrifice, and resurrection from the dead, not only have we been set free from the PENALTY of our SINS, but with the help of the Holy Spirit, we are being set free from the POWER of SIN. Even more, we will be set free from the presence of sin and all it’s terrible consequences. This changes everything.Welcome to Part 5 in the Victory in Christ series. So, search us, Lord, You know our hearts. Refine us. You know our wayward thoughts. In Your perfect love, highlight anything that doesn’t belong, any sin or foothold we’ve allowed to remain, that we may lay these things down and leave them in the past as You guide us in Your way and truth that truly lead to abundant life. Teach us to joyfully repent, receive your forgiveness, forsake sin, and move forward with You as transformed people.You are the Master. We are Your disciples. Teach us to walk with You, to talk with you, to do as you do, and learn from You. We come to You, many of us, weary and weighed down. We trust You will give us rest as You promised, and refresh us with Your presence. In Your presence is fullness of joy. It’s an honor to draw near to You, knowing You draw near to us.Help us to believe and receive who You are and what You did to set us free from the penalty of sin, the power of sin, and one day, even the presence of sin. Amen.We Will Be Set Free from the PRESENCE of SINWhat does this mean?If you're in Christ:* You will be like Jesus, sinless and pure.* You will receive a glorified body free from our old sin nature.* You will dwell in the new creation without death, pain, or sin.* Your salvation includes freedom from sin’s presence forever.How can we know this for sure? Let’s explore what God’s Word says and meditate on eight power-packed passages. Truths to Inscribe on Your HeartTruth #1: Revelation 21:3–4“And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God. He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”Thank You, Lord! → In the new creation, sin, and all the effects of sin are gone. No more tears. No more death. No more mourning or crying or pain. No more sickness. No more achy joints. No more food allergies. No more theft. No more loss. No more exploitation. No more darkness. No more broken hearts. No more loneliness. No more rejection or harm or abuse. No more broken relationships. No more lies, mental illness, or sadness. No more addictions, corruption, fraud, evil, war, slavery, or human trafficking. No more bad news. All that’s been corrupted by sin will have passed away.Truth #2: 1 John 3:2“Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be like him, because we shall see him as he is.”Thank You, Lord! → We will be like Christ—pure, righteous, and sinless—with new bodies and eyes that truly see righty, unobstructed by sin. Truth #3: Philippians 3:20–21“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.”Thank You, Lord! → Jesus Christ will transform our lowly bodies to be like His. Like the shell of a seed is left behind while a new plant with new life emerges, we will have glorified bodies free from decay and without our old sin nature.Truth #4: Romans 8:18–21“For I consider that the sufferings of this present time are not worth comparing with the glory that is to be revealed to us. For the creation waits with eager longing for the revealing of the sons of God. For the creation was subjected to futility, not willingly, but because of him who subjected it, in hope that the creation itself will be set free from its bondage to corruption and obtain the freedom of the glory of the children of God.”Thank You, Lord! → We and creation will be fully freed from sin’s presence and corruption—more free and fully alive than we can possibly fathom. Truth #5: Jude v.24“Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen.”Thank You, Lord! → Our Savior Jesus is willing and able to keep us from stumbling and welcome us into the presence of our glorious God with great joy: blameless, pure, and cleansed, with no stain of sin in sight.Truth #6: Romans 13:11–12“Besides this you know the time, that the hour has come for you to wake from sleep. For salvation is nearer to us now than when we first believed. The night is far gone; the day is at hand. So then let us cast off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light.”Thank You, Lord! → It’s time to wake up and live in the light! It’s a gift to hear this reality today. Let’s cast off the works of darkness while there’s still time and put on the armor of light, listed in Ephesians 6!Truth #7: Hebrews 9:28“So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many, will appear a second time, not to deal with sin but to save those who are eagerly waiting for him.”Thank You, Lord! → Sin is dealt with already. Jesus is coming again to save those eagerly waiting for Him and deliver them from sin’s presence.Truth #8: 1 Corinthians 15:50–53“Flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God, nor does the perishable inherit the imperishable. Behold! I tell you a mystery. We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet. For the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we shall be changed. For this perishable body must put on the imperishable, and this mortal body must put on immortality.”Thank You, Lord! → As a seed “dies” and new life emerges, so we will emerge transformed, so we may be in His holy presence and live. We will live forever, unaffected by sin, decay, or death.Now, let’s take a moment to let these truths from God’s Word move from our heads to our hearts. Inscribing these truths on the tablet of our hearts takes time.We Will Be Set Free from the PRESENCE of SIN.All praise to our victorious Savior, the Lion of the tribe of Judah, the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. No more sickness. No more tears. No more pain. No more sin.The Lord has conquered, and so will we. We get to pledge our allegiance to Him.A Final Faith-Filled Exhortation Friends, while the liar and enemy of our souls wants to keep us living like slaves, hiding our sins, buried under the weight of our sin and shame, Jesus our victorious Savior has set us free. Temptations will inevitably come, but we get to face them with Jesus, the One who is able and willing to save us. We can simply call upon the name of Jesus and be sustained and delivered. It’s our mighty-to-save Savior who invites us:28 “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.” - Matthew 11:28-29The battle belongs to the Lord. It’s already won. Who is like the Lord? There is no one, no one like our God. If Our God is for us, who can be against us?! Who?Through this Victory in Christ series, “Slaves to Sons,” we are asking, seeking, and knocking together as Jesus instructs us in Matthew 7:7-8, trusting that our great God will give, reveal, and open doors. We will continue to discover how to get freedom from sexual immorality, addiction, and shame as we embrace our identity as a beloved sons and daughters of our Father in Heaven.
