Partnering for Success – Patient Engagement and PrEP Adherence Strategies
from CME Outfitters Medical Education · host CME Outfitters Medical Education
Across diverse global settings, patient engagement and sustained adherence remain major challenges in HIV prevention, particularly with pre-exposure prophylaxis (PrEP). Barriers such as insufficient provider training in communication strategies, in addition to broader issues such as stigma, limited health literacy, and cultural norms, often undermine initiation and long-term use of PrEP. Healthcare professionals, including HIV/infectious disease (ID) specialists, primary care providers, nurses, and pharmacists, need practical education on how to build trust, tailor engagement, and co-create adherence plans that reflect patients’ lived experiences and preferences. Empowering clinicians with effective, culturally sensitive strategies for patient-centered care is essential to closing gaps in PrEP uptake and achieving meaningful reductions in HIV transmission worldwide. In the fourth activity of this CME Outfitters Snack series, expert faculty from the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia will discuss using patient engagement and working with patients collaboratively to promote worldwide PrEP initiation and adherence strategies.Learn More Here
