Parvo in Dogs and Cats

from myPET Podcast · host vet-n-pet DIRECT

Canine Parvovirus and Feline Enteritis Both of these conditions have been in the media lately so in this episode Dr Glenn and Bec discuss the in’s and out’s of these diseases. Where did the diseases come from, how do they spread and what do they look like? They are both particularly nasty (ie lethal), highly contagious and the virus responsible is remarkably resilient and can persist in the environment for a long period of time. Correct vaccination of cats and dogs is the only effective preventative strategy. Treatment is complicated, difficult and not all cases can be saved and so its certainly the case that prevention is better than cure.
