PaRx Prescription Program: Asking Your Doctor About a Prescription for Touching Grass

from Earth Day Party · host iHeartRadio

Did you know you that in Canada, you can get a written prescription for spending time in nature? PaRx: A Prescription for Nature, is an initiative of the BC Parks Foundation and is Canada’s national, evidence-based nature prescription program. The initiative is operated by health-care professionals who believe their patients’ health can benefit from time spent with nature. Dr. Andrew Day, Chief Executive Officer, joins Earth Day Party hosts Shannon Burns and Sarah Christie to share the health benefits, both mental and physical, of just 20 minutes spent with nature. In the discussion, Dr. Andrew Day connects how time in nature can lead to environmental stewardship! Additionally, he shares tricks for developing “nature-based-habits” that can lead to outdoor experiences becoming a daily routine.  PaRx: A Prescription for Nature offers resources for both patients and prescribers.
