Pastoral Epistles: 1 Timothy 2:3-4 - God’s Heart for Lost Souls

This at the beginning of this verse points back to the admonition of pray for the lost in the first two verses of this chapter. To do so is “good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior.” “Good” refers to that which is intrinsically and morally good. Praying for the lost is the noble and spiritually proper thing to do, and our consciences will affirm that. The lost suffer the agony of sin, shame, and meaninglessness in this life, and the eternal hell of unrelenting agony in the life to come. Knowing that, fervently praying for their salvation is most definitely good and acceptable.
