Paterson Closes Four Elementary Schools
from Newark News Today | 2 Min News | The Daily News Now!
Paterson is shutting down four elementary schools—Alexander Hamilton Academy, Norman S. Weir School, Public School 1, and the Young Men’s Leadership Academy—at the end of this month, after a flip-flop in district plans. Students will be moved to neighborhood schools next year under a new middle school model aimed at improving academic outcomes. The mayor insists this is about repurposing, not closing, and rules out charter conversions. Parents are devastated, especially those who’ve watched their kids grow up at these schools, and many feel blindsided by the lack of prior communication. Hundreds of students are preparing for a major shift in their education landscape. Support the show: Get a discount at https://solipillow.com/discount/dnn.
