THURSDAY, APRIL 3, 2025Thursday of the Fourth Sunday of Lent Memorial of Saint Francis of Paola, HermitGOSPEL OF THE DAY: JOHN 5: 17 - 30“If I were to testify about myself,my testimony would not be true.However, there is another who testifies about me,and I know that his testimony is true,the testimony he bore concerning me.You sent messengers to John,and he has testified to the truth.Not that I accept such human testimony,but I say these thingsso that you may be saved.“John was a burning and shining lamp,and for a time you were willingto exult in his light.But I have testimony that is greater than John’s.The works that my Fatherhas given me to accomplish,the very works that I am doing,testify about me,that the Father has sent me.“And the Father who sent mehas himself testified about me.You have not heard his voiceor seen his form,and you do not have his wordabiding in you,because you do not believehim whom he has sent.“Search the Scriptures carefullybecause you believe that through themyou will gain eternal life.Even they testify on my behalf.Yet you refuse to come to meto receive that life.“I do not accept the praise of men.Moreover, I know that you do not havethe love of God in your hearts.I have come in the name of my Father,yet you do not accept me.But if another should come in his own name,you will accept him.How can you believewhen you accept praise from one another,yet you do not seekthe praise that comes fromthe only God?“Do not think that I will accuse youbefore the Father.You have placed your hope in Moses,and he is the one who will accuse you.If you truly believed Moses,you would have believed in me,for it is about me that he wrote.But since you do not believe what he wrote,how will you believe what I say?”Reflection by Danny Dy: Management consultant and urban farmer.
