Patience and Perserverance -- S2E18

In Luke 8:15, Jesus spoke to the need to be patient and persevere in the pursuance and retention of His Word. His Word is both life changing and life giving. This is the “good soil” that Jesus speaks of -- the soil of a man's heart that receives the Word and retains it, and through patience and perseverance produces the crop of His harvest (paraphased). A farmer first prepares the soil, then plants the seed. He then continues to nurture the seed through fertilization and irrigation…then they wait for the harvest. To the Christ follower, we prepare the soil of our hearts through the humble acknowledgment of His authority and His Lordship over our hearts and lives. We fertilize and irrigate our hearts through the continued reading and retention of His word, followed by patience and perseverance in the same. The profit Isaiah said it best in Isaiah 40:31… “They that wait upon the Lord will renew their strength, they will mount up as with wings on eagles, they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not faint.”
